Gary Groves is a Maine native. Gary was a graduate of Westbrook High and the University of Maine. He was a three-sport athlete in high school and a standout defensive back at Maine who also played a pro season in Italy. After college, Groves worked as a groundskeeper for the Boston Red Sox, an assistant general manager at Anaheim Stadium, and in administration for Herzog Motorsports. He returned to Maine and became athletic director at a number of local high schools while pursuing a pastoral calling. Gary currently holds his Master of Divinity from Rockbridge Seminary in Springfield, MO. He graduated with a BA in Speech Communication from University of Maine, Orono.
Gary is the founding pastor of The Orchard Community Church. He attended a church service in late December of 1997 where he walked out committed to spending the rest of his life knowing more of Jesus Christ and making Him known throughout the world. He was called to Pastor in 2007. He and his wife Laura moved forward in planting The Orchard Community Church in August of 2011.
Gary is very driven. His life purpose is to live out the Great Commandment and the Great Commission in four intentionally focused ways. To continue to grow personally in Christ-like character, to bring non-believers into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ, to develop believers into healthy disciples who will go out and impact the world and to coach, mentor and encourage other pastors and leaders to go and do the same.
Gary has been coaching, mentoring and training pastors and church leaders internationally since 2009. He has traveled extensively to India, working with pastors from remote villages at the base of the Himalayan mountains. He has worked in Mexico, Africa, the Philippines and throughout the Northeast region of the United States.
Gary has a love for Jesus and people.
